On Sunday 29th December, an accident occurred at KNUST junction which has unfortunately led to the sudden departure of two Souls.
A certain articulated truck which was loaded with goods including tomato pastes, had been parked on the Kumasi-Ejisu Highway due to a unknown fault. An Opel Astra with registration number GT 5216 T, rammed into the parked truck about 2:00am.
The articulated truck driver's assistant, who identified himself as Kofi explained that they parked on Friday evening after the vehicle developed a fault on the highway and that they have contracted a mechanic to fix the fault but was unable to do so. He explained that he was taking some rest after directing traffic for a while when he was asked to come to the scene because an accident had occurred. When he moved to the scene, he saw the mangled Opel Astra which had crashed into the back of the truck. One of the two passengers the Opel was pronounced dead at the nearby KNUST Hospital and the other passenger was pronounced dead at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) where he was referred. This news has reached the doorsteps of the Regional Police as investigations is being carried to unravel the actual cause of the accident. Road users should travel safe and avoid careless driving as the year comes to an end.
